    • Why is the term Americans means USA ppl?

the words basically mean ppl from the continents of Americas , not only from the United States.

a probable term should be 'USer' instead?

so United States ppl should be call USer instead of American. can agree?

i hope this is not confusing for the kids.

    • The Americas consists of North America and the South American states.

South Americans states have different countries and non of them are call America. North America consists of United States of America and Canada.

Since the USA are the only country with America, they can call themselves americans.

      Thats my interpretation anyways.

    • USA=united states of AMERICA.

so they assumed the word AMERICA mean themselves, that is y they are called americans.

but technically it is the wrong use of word la.

    • sometimes you got to consider the abbreviation of the word.

      how it sounds and all.

      USer looks like USER.

      it sounds like you ass-er.

does it clear your doubts why they call themselves American now sad.png

    • If people from the US are called USers, what do you call people from Los Angeles?

    • " The standard way to refer to a citizen of the United States is as an American. Though United States is the formal adjective, American and U.S. are the most common adjectives used to refer to the country ("American values," "U.S. forces"). American is rarely used in English to refer to people not connected to the United States. "
