Question about Shanghai.. replied by Lazybumy @ Thu, 03 Jul 2008 15:16:12 +0800

U will need winter clothing as it will be damn cold by
then. It can be bad as most house in shanghai dun have
heater. But cheaper to get it in Shanghai. As for cost
of living, depend what type of life u are looking at, my guess u
are just a student as shld not be too bad. X place can cost u
like 300sgd for a meal for 2. Whereas u can also get a meal
for abt 3 sgd . Plus I miss the special steamboat there, abt
20-25sgd for 5 .

What type of entertainment u are looking at, for me I like foot
massage, cost abt 10-15sgd for 90 min.

Question about Shanghai.. replied by motoway @ Wed, 14 May 2008 12:24:20 +0800

Hey hey fellow Sgporeans overseas, I'll be going over to
Shanghai for the period of July to December ( around 6 months) and
would like to ask u guys for enlightment as i have not been away
from home for such a long period of time.

1) For a period of 6 mths, what do i have to bring? Clothes/
wrking clothes around how many pieces or u guys render i just bring
minimal and then go over to buy more pieces?? I don't quite
know the standard of living in Shanghai so if it's lower den Sg
perhaps i'll go over to buy i guess.

2) House rental. I'll be most probably be renting a whole house
( hopefully) and staying together with my group of friends. My
attachment place is in the business district ( MaoMing street). So
Qn is will rental be more expensive in the business district? If
yes how much more?

3) How's the price of food and entertainment over there?

4) Lastly, for a period of 6 mths what will be a optimistic
amount of $$ in SGD i'll spend?

Sorry for the barrage of questions, I hope i do find enlightment
over here. And hey udon if u're reading this thread, yes my sch
rejected my appeal for Switzerland and Sweden. <img src=

blast too!!
